Dermaplaning

The Truth About Dermaplaning.

With so many products, services and treatments for your skin, it can be hard to know what is the best for your skin. As far as professional exfoliation goes, Buda Med Spa offers three major solutions: microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and chemical peels. If you are looking for information on microdermabrasion or chemical peels, see our previous blog host here. Below we will dive into a less widely available but just as effective form of professional exfoliation.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a form of manual exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. Your licensed provider will use a medical-grade scalpel to gently remove dead skin cells and that unwanted peach fuzz. This is a painless treatment that has very minimal side affects including light redness right afterwards. See a video of dermaplaning on our Instagram here if you’re looking for a visual demonstration.

What are the Benefits of Dermaplaning?

As with other methods of professional exfoliation, dermaplaning allows your skincare products to be better absorbed by your skin, therefore being more effective. Dermaplaning also has the added benefits of reducing the appearance of fine lines, evening skin tone and assisting with the reduction of milia, blackheads, whiteheads and congestion associated with breakouts. A unique benefit of dermaplaning is the temporary removal of vellus hair that most clients find unsightly. This leaves your skin completely smooth and ready to absorb your favorite skincare products.

Why should I choose Dermaplaning?

This method of exfoliation is great for clients that have coupersose (tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin), sensitive skin or allergies that prevent them from using microdermabrasion and chemical peels. If you are looking for completely smooth skin that is hair-free this is also a great option. As far as intensity of exfoliation, dermaplaning falls in between microdermabrasion and chemical peels, chemical peels being the most intense. Our professionals at Buda Med Spa can assist in choosing the best exfoliation method for your skin and desired results if you’re unsure what to choose. As always, consultations are complimentary.

Dermaplaning can be done alone or in conjunction with a facial depending on your skin’s needs and the time you have available. By itself, dermaplaning is a 30-minute treatment for $75. With the added facial, the treatment is an hour and is $125.
