Buda MedSpa Botox Vs. Fillers

Botox Vs. Fillers

At Buda MedSpa, we feel it’s important that our clientele go into their beauty treatments with a full understanding of the best options for superior results. The available injectable products designed to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles can be a bit overwhelming. You’ve identified your “trouble” area, but what’s the right treatment, or combination of treatments, for you? Would you be best served by pursuing muscle relaxant treatments like Dysport or Botox, or refresh your look through fillers? The discussion is much more than just, “Botox versus Fillers,” but it’s a good place to start the conversation.

“Botox” Botulinum Toxin

Both Botox Cosmetic and Dysport are created by extracting purified protein from the botulinum toxin. These products are designed to restrict the movement of muscles that cause dynamic, or active, lines and wrinkles- those lines that are produced from repetitive muscle movement. The ultimate goal is to soften the look of these dynamic lines. The product is injected directly into the muscle tissue of the trouble area. There are subtle differences between the results of these two products, so it is best to discuss what you would like to see achieved with your medical aesthetician before choosing the product that is right for you. Results are not immediate; it can take up to two weeks for the full impact to be clear and results are expected to last between 3-6 months. These neurotoxin products are most often used on the top third of the face.

Fillers- Hyaluronic Acid

The dermal filler products we offer at Buda MedSpa are hyaluronic acid based, which is a naturally occurring sugar present in various types of human body tissue. These wrinkle fillers tackle the other side of aging. As we get older, we lose collagen and elastin and our skin becomes thinner and drier. This family of fillers is designed to target static, soft tissue lines. Dermal fillers subtly reduce wrinkles and lines as well as add volume to the face, depending on the product, target area and goal of the patient and product. Restylane Silk, the thinnest formula, subtly smooths out and reduces wrinkles. Restylane and Juvederm are slightly thicker formulas and therefore more versatile as fillers as well as volumizers. Restylane Lyft and Juvederm Voluma XC both work well as volumizers, which reclaim areas where our clients have lost mass, fat and muscle tone in the face. Results can last 4-6 months with the thinner products and up to 2 years with a touch up at a year, with the thicker products. These fillers and volumizers are most often used on the bottom two thirds of the face.

Botox or Fillers…or Both?

You do not have to choose one set of injectables over the other. These two families of products are in fact quite complimentary- both can resolve your trouble spots, but together, they will rejuvenate your skin and give your face a more youthful appearance. Contact us today for a consultation, so we can design your custom plan to regain your natural beauty.
